Like all stately homes, Blenheim Palace has needed to respond to the challenges of Covid-19. With the cancelation of many summer season events, ‘Picnic at the Palace’ has been developed by Midsummer Nightcap as a response to Covid-19. A bespoke, socially distanced event adhering to HM’s governmental guidelines and regulations.

Upon entering Blenheim Palace grounds, there will be signs directing you towards the entrance of the event. A structured queuing area with 2m spaces will be marked out. Please be aware that our entrance and exit points are separated, when you leave the event, use the appropriate exit. Hand sanitiser will be available around the site to use upon entry and at your own discretion. All of our staff will be wearing PPE in the form of masks, gloves and aprons. They have all been trained to adhere to social distancing regulations. Our hamper boxes, cups, plates and cutlery are both sustainable and disposable, with each customer getting a personal set.

Please adhere to social distancing when you attend this event, failure to do so may lead to your party not being served. We have our staff and your safety at the forefront of every decision we make.

Due to government guidelines, this event disallows social congregation. We ask for you to remain seated at your designated pergola or seating area whilst the music is playing and for the duration of your sitting. You can pre book your drinks or when on site, you may visit our caravan bar or place an order with one of our staff members.

As an ongoing response to Covid-19, we will be using the NHS test and trace system at Picnic at the Palace to ensure the maximum safety of staff, customers and artists. The purpose is to

rapidly detect people who have recently come into close contact with a new Covid-19 case, and then take swift action to minimise transmission of the virus.

When you book your ticket we will need the name of the leader of your group and their contact number. These details will be ethically and safely stored, complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your names and contact numbers will only ever be used if the NHS contact us directly asking for it. This is a voluntary requirement but we hope that you assist us in supporting the NHS, by preventing another serious outbreak.

Toilets will be located onsite. These are individual units spaced 2m apart. A queuing area with 2m spaces will be marked out. Please make sure you maintain your distance from other customers. Hand sanitiser stations will be positioned outside the toilets (and inside) so please sanitise hands both before and after entering. The toilets and regularly cleaned and inspected.

We have three individual picnic sessions each day so it is important to arrive with plenty of time before your session. Give yourself time to park and walk to the site (10 minutes) and we would advise arrival at least 15 minutes before your allocated attendance. When your session finishes, we kindly ask you to make your way out of the signposted exit so our team has time to thoroughly clean and clear for the next sitting.

No external food or drink can be brought onto the event site. Our caravan bar will be on site for any required beverages and we would ask for any alcoholic drinks purchased to be consumed on site. We operate a challenge 25 policy, so if you are lucky enough to look under 25 you will be asked for ID upon order, or delivery, of an alcoholic drink. Alcohol will only be served to those 18 or over so please bring ID.

Our main grazing boxes options are vegetarian or meat, with vegan, gluten free, dairy free and nut free options available so please do specify your preferences and any allergies when you book a ticket.

Your ticket will give you access to both the event and to the Blenheim Palace grounds, but it is valid only for the day of entry. Tickets will be checked upon arrival into the Palace and and into the event site so please have them handy. The ticket is not valid for entry to the Palace itself however, if you wish to upgrade your ticket to include Blenheim Palace entry please speak to Blenheim Palace staff at the Flagstaff Kiosk Information Centre.

There will be free available parking on site when you arrive through the main entrance. Please be aware of social distancing whilst exiting your vehicle and walking to the event entrance.

If any governmental rules and regulations change due to Covid-19 you will be offered a refund or an exchange.

This is an outdoor event so please be prepared for British weather; bring coats and blankets if necessary. In the event of cancellation due to weather you can exchange your ticket to another day.

Children under the age of 3 can come for free. All children’s tickets include a children’s hamper designed for ages 4-12 outlined on the SEE tickets website.

This is an outdoor event with full wheelchair access.

As you will see, this event is only available for groups of two, four and a maximum of six due to social distancing legislation, seating arrangements and hamper boxes.

We allow dogs and guide dogs into the event if they are kept on a lead. Dog owners need to be respectful towards other people attending the event and keep their dog on a short lead at all times.
